James Hesketh

Chief Executive Officer & Director

Mr. Hesketh has over 35 years of experience in mining company positions, including over 12 years in public company CEO roles, and positions in mining finance, business development, and mine engineering, development, and operations with companies including Atna Resources Ltd, Canyon Resources Corporation, NM Rothschild & Sons (Denver) Inc., Cyprus Amax Minerals Company, Pincock, Allen & Holt, Inc., and Dresser Industries Inc. He holds a B.S. in Mining Engineering and a M.S. in Mineral Economics, both from the Colorado School of Mines.

Steven Krause

Chief Financial Officer

Steven has worked extensively with mining, mineral exploration and development stage companies in Canada and the United States.  Mr. Krause is also the CFO of Bear Creek Mining Corporation and President of Avisar Chartered Accountants. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Trinity Western University and is a registered CPA in the state of Illinois.

Christopher E. Herald

Chairman

Mr. Herald is currently President, CEO and Director of Solitario Zinc Corp. Mr. Herald also served in various senior management roles and finally as President, CEO and Director of Crown Resources Corporation from 1990 until Crown was acquired by Kinross Gold Corp in 2006. Prior to joining Crown Mr. Herald was a senior geologist for Echo Bay Mines and Anaconda Minerals. Mr. Herald was a past chairman of Denver Gold Group, a not-for-profit industry association recognized for organizing preeminent North American and European gold conferences for institutional investors. Mr. Herald received a MS in Geology from the Colorado School of Mines and a BS in Geology from the University of Notre Dame. 

David E. Whittle

Director

Mr. Whittle joined the Board in July 2020 and is Chairman of the Audit Committee. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 25 years of senior executive experience in the mining industry, involving multiple development-stage and operational mining projects, both open pit and underground. David has been responsible for strategic planning initiatives, operations and all aspects of corporate and financial management and administration. Mr. Whittle has served as a director of a number of public companies over his career, primarily in the resource sector, with extensive experience on audit committees, compensation committees and special committees. Most recently, he was on the board of Alio Gold Inc. serving as chair of the Audit Committee.

Edward (Ted) Mahoney

Director

Mr. Mahoney became a Director of the Company in March 2019 – previously Chief Geologist at the large-scale Kinross Round Mountain Mine, Chief Geologist and Business Development Manager for Barrick North America, Chief Geologist at Barrick’s Eskay Creek Mine in British Columbia, Manager of Project Development with Miramar Hope Bay, Manager of Geology for Sutton Resources and various geologic positions with the Giant Yellowknife/Pamour Group of companies. Mr. Mahoney holds a BSc in Geology from the University of Calgary, is a registered Professional Geoscientist in British Columbia.

Andrew (Andy) Bolland

Director

Mr. Bolland joined Viva's board in August of 2021. Andy is a highly qualified and experienced senior mining executive with a long and illustrious career, primarily with Barrick Gold, in positions including Manager of Processing and Open Pit Mining at Barrick Goldstrike and then as Director Technical Services and Director Operations for Barrick Gold of North America with operational and technical oversight responsibilities for Barrick’s mines and joint ventures in North America. After leaving Barrick in 2016, Andy joined Hatch LTD as Director of Mining and Mineral Processing where he directed metallurgical plant activities and established an office in Salt Lake City.  

Adrian Goldstone

Director

Adrian is currently the Managing Director Technical for Dundee Corporation (DC.A:TSX); From 2006 to 2014, Mr. Goldstone was Vice President of Dundee Precious Metals. Adrian completed his BS and MS at the University of Aukland and has over 35 years of mining industry experience.
